Day 1 | Tarangire National Park

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and, after a scenic 2-3-hour drive, arrive at Tarangire National Park. Your day will be filled with extensive game drives through this remarkable park, known for having the highest concentration of elephants in northern Tanzania. These majestic herds, sometimes numbering up to 300, can be seen year-round.

The Tarangire River, which flows throughout the year, becomes a vital water source during the dry season (July to October), attracting a variety of wildlife from the surrounding areas. During this period, you’ll have the chance to witness an incredible array of animals including lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and various antelopes and gazelles. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a python!

Tarangire is also a birdwatcher’s paradise during the dry season, with over 550 species, including the impressive Masai Ostrich—the world’s largest bird. Around lunchtime, we’ll pause at a scenic picnic spot before continuing with more game drives in the afternoon. As the day draws to a close, you’ll be returned to your Arusha hotel before sunset.
