These semi-nomadic pastoralists reside in the Rift Valley region of northern Tanzania and southern Kenya. As you embark on your safari and travel towards the national parks in this area, you’ll likely encounter the vibrant Maasai herding their cattle or offering their artwork for sale.
You’ll be greeted with a vibrant traditional song and dance performed by Maasai women. As we stroll through the village, you’ll observe where the Maasai eat, collect water, and gather. You’ll have the opportunity to visit one of their homes and enjoy a cup of their traditional tea. Maasai warriors will showcase their impressive traditional jumps, and you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions about their way of life.
You’ll have the opportunity to observe various traditional activities, such as milking cows, applying mud to Maasai houses, and constructing stoves. You can even participate in these activities yourself.For lunch, you might enjoy a home-cooked meal or try some local skewers of goat meat, famously known as nyama choma.
Additionally, you have the option to spend up to 6 hours exploring the Maasai village, immersing yourself in their way of life. To conclude the visit, the Maasai will display their handcrafted items, giving you the chance to purchase a unique souvenir if you wish.
